About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and Western-qualified Consultant Intensive Care Physician to lead the management of critically ill adult patients within a multidisciplinary Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing evidence-based critical care, managing life-threatening conditions, and coordinating complex treatment plans while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in critical care medicine, advanced life support, mechanical ventilation, and the management of complex medical and surgical ICU patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive critical care management for patients admitted to the ICU.
  • Diagnose and manage life-threatening medical, surgical, and post-operative conditions.
  • Lead multidisciplinary ICU rounds and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Manage patients requiring invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
  • Perform advanced critical care procedures including:
    • Central venous catheter insertion
    • Arterial line placement
    • Endotracheal intubation
    • Bronchoscopy (where credentialed)
    • Bedside ultrasound-guided procedures
    • Percutaneous tracheostomy (where applicable)
  • Interpret arterial blood gases, hemodynamic monitoring, laboratory investigations, and diagnostic imaging.
  • Manage patients with sepsis, septic shock, ARDS, multi-organ failure, trauma, poisoning, and post-operative complications.
  • Collaborate closely with emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, surgeons, cardiologists, pulmonologists, nephrologists, neurologists, infectious disease specialists, and nursing teams.
  • Participate in rapid response teams and hospital code blue services.
  • Provide consultation services throughout the hospital for critically ill patients.
  • Supervise ICU residents, fellows, and junior physicians.
  • Participate in morbidity and mortality meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and infection prevention programs.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and ensure timely clinical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, hospital policies, JCI standards, and international critical care guidelines.
