About the Role
Wood is recruiting for a Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join its Projects team focusing on delivering across Oil and Gas projects. The position is based in Sohar, Oman for a duration of one year.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain RBI programs in accordance with API 580/581 and client specifications
- Conduct risk assessments and corrosion loop reviews across process units and equipment
- Identify and evaluate damage mechanisms applicable to fixed equipment
- Provide expert guidance on inspection intervals, mitigation strategies, and risk reduction
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure RBI program alignment
- Lead and facilitate RBI workshops, HAZOP, and risk-based studies
- Prepare and review RBI reports, documentation, and technical deliverables
- Provide technical mentorship and training to junior RBI engineers
- Liaise with client stakeholders to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements
- Support fitness-for-service assessments and remaining life calculations
- Ensure RBI methodology aligns with industry codes, standards, and best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or Corrosion Engineering
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in RBI within the Oil & Gas industry
- At least 5 years in an SME or Lead RBI role
- Strong knowledge of API 580 / API 581 standards
- Proven experience with damage mechanism identification and risk assessment
